    Default 406 Replacing sun blind

Someone broke the tabs on the rear sun blind on the 98 406 sedan (probably the same for all models)? I now have another one to replace it. Does anyone know how to get to it? The Haynes is silent on this issue.

Pugnut, I'm curious … did you have to buy a complete blind just because the tabs were broken?

If so, how much was the blind, and where from? (Yes, the tabs on my rear blind are also broken.)

    TIA,
    Andrew

I bought the sun blind with a whole stack of other parts including body panels and a tow bar to repair my 2002 406 SV, so I can't put a price on it.

I had thought about using the ends of a bungee strap to be modified to take the place of the tabs, and might try that once the old one is out. The difficulty I've always had is working on the bar which is alway under tension (in the car). If I come up with a solution I'll post it.

Thanks - and is the rear parcel shelf trim easy to remove? I cant see any pointers by looking at it.

Seems to be a common problem-I guess incorrect usage.Would have been nice if the hooks were replaceable.Wondering if a small hole with a Dremmel or such & a couple of small hooks would work?

    Default 406 Sunblind

I have successfully used Pekay's solution.
I purchased the smallest stainless steel hooks from Bunnings and using the Dremel smoothed off the fractures then drilled holes then installed the hooks and VOILA!!

The part is NLA from Peugeot!

The hook/dremel idea is the best way of fixing it!

Interesting. When did you find out this information?

I checked - I can't remember exactly when - and was told it was available and in stock. I wasn't prepared to pay, I think $140+, to replace the complete blind when all that was wrong was the two broken tabs.

    Cheers,
    Andrew
