    Default Sorrento 205 gti

Ive spent the day driving from Canberra to Sydney to see the limited edition Sorrento Green 205 that is selling for $24k. Quite an anticlimax realy. PM me if you would like to know my opinion on the car.

If it was I would have given the asking price. Not even close. I wanted to offer him 12000, but I didnt want to offend.

He didnt live in the eastern suburbs by chance? I possibly know the car and know that it not 24k. Not even 12k.

$24000 or there about , he might discount it a grand or so, but he is realy out to recoup what he spent on it not what it is worth.

My major concern was that the plastic shroud that covers the speedo binnicle was loose and missing a clip, it was loose I could pry it open with my hands. He had no supporting documentation to verify the 6 stamps in the service manual. Also the garage that has 4 of the stamps is no longer there. The bonnet also had many stone chips and a dent. The colour code in the engine bay was non existant.

He made no mention of having replaced the speedo cable. If anyone is planning on seeing the car It would be interesting to read their thoughts on it. I urge caution: buyer beware. I own a low km example of an Si 205 , the difference between mine and that is night and day. 56000km? I wonder.

It also puzzled me how the condition of the paint was far superior than the rusted bolts washers and the phillips head screws that i inspected looked like they had a screw driver taken to them. Not to mention the loose door fixtures and new windscreen rubbers. The windscreen was original with the peugeot logo on it.

Here is a picture of the binicle cover that i pulled open with my hand, and the missing clip. The whole plastic cover is loose.

It might be worth 15k its a good clean car that has had a lot of work done to it. I question its milage but he has some good aftermarket stuff on it. Like the shocks, exhaust, its been chipped and the interior is clean. The tread is new. remember the bonnet has a raised dint , he said it was from the bonnet latch? and heaps of touched up stone chips. He also has a tin of sorrento green paint in a tin that matches the car?? everything points to respray i tell you. I wish he had some receipts to show for work carried out. he doesnt have one and has owned the car for 11 years.

he has also tracked it too if that makes a difference , his other car is an orange torana that was mint. Racing seat and helmet in the seat. he said it pulls 10 dead on the quater mile.

Yes possibly, no dought this thread wont help but thats one mans opinion (mine) and nothing ive said isnt true. If he is realistic with the price it doesnt need to be. But you would have to be mad to spend 23k on a car that still needs body work and questionable history. I dont think this guy has heard of depreciation. He wants to recoup the money he has spent on it, i wish him well, more chances of seeing a red bull.
