    Default Exhaust shop in Sydney?

    Hey,

I managed to put a hole in the exhaust of the 406 navigating a steep driveway on the weekend. Although it now sounds like a WRC car (which is good), I now have the risk of fumes entering the cabin (which is bad)...

So can anyone suggest a place which is reasonably priced and does work on the weekends? Northside and Inner West ok...

    Cheers,

    Joel.

I have been very well looked after by Cortis in Mona Vale. Nice people and they do lots of "unusual" work. They even have a pattern for DS tail pipes!

If you need someone closer to town, these guys did a great job on my car after someone else had stuffed it up. http://www.hitechmufflers.com.au/

Very knowledgable and still keen to help a silly french car driver even although he basically doesn't trust exhaust shops any more and asks lots of questions!

My experience with Hitecch wasn't so great. I specifically stated I wanted something quieter than the existing muffler (I'd blown a cat again and the muffler was full of shrapnel) and when I got the car back it was significantly louder.

I took it straight back and they hadn't driven the car before they replaced the muffler so didn't know it was actually worse (I couldn't believe it considering I had specifically said I want a quieter muffler than what is currently on the car). I brought it back the next day and they put another one on, which ended up being about the same as the original (certainly no quieter).

I ended up just living with that as I didn't want to have to bring it back a third time.

The cat has been good, but the welding job was not too crash hot.

Ended up going to Tuffy Mufflers in Rosebery - Epsom Road last Saturday morning. Ended up having a new muffler welded in for the reasonable sum of $220...Ended up driving past after I dropped the other half at work!

Wasn't after anything flash or "performance" orientated - good old fashioned honest service!
