You can get them off Ebay but you still have to have it programmed - well over $100 for the programming from memory.

    Default 406 key

    hi
you can get a spare from peugeot dealer. non remote will be good enough for spare. i think it is just over $100 ,you can try from one of the peugeot dealers in uk and it will cost you half of what it cost here, but always you have a risk of getting the wrong one. some of them are on ebay uk.i would not get after market ones ,they are hard to progrem so i heard.
    cheers ron

Is it only dealers who can programme the key, or can they be done by locksmiths?

I've had a couple of keys programmed by a good locksmith here. Both keys were aftermarket as well. Still cost a heap.

My 406 coupe had no key when I bought it so I bought one through the dealer and the head mechanic programmed it for me for free which was very nice of him.

Mind you I have spent thousands there over the years!

But it cost me $100 to have the car towed there and back!

It was all worth while - my first coupe was auto - this one's a 2002 manual.
