    Default 405 MI16 exhaust

    Hey everyone,
i own a 94 model mi16, and was wondering if a bigger or smaller muffler would give the car a slightly louder and deeper sound. any suggestions?

I'd say the best thing is to find someone else with an exhaust you like the sound of and duplicate that. Changing mufflers can be very hit and miss! A lot of people make the mistake of going for too big a diameter exhaust (I just went with what the mechanic recommended which was too big unfortunately)

Too big gives what my cousin calls a wet fart exhaust sound, and can also lead to droning (my car drones at 3000 RPM which is right about where my car is at 100KM/H

If you do a lot of touring in the car seriously consider whether louder is going to be tiresome on trips.

My series 2 mi16 has a remus rear muffler and a red back center muffler. It makes a really nice note, but doesn't drone at high way speeds! And isn't too loud.

Mate if you don't mind getting your hands dirty, you can come over (Box Hill) & try my Devil rear muffler from a Series 1 Mi16 provided it fits.

If you like it, I may even sell it!

    16v Exhaust problems

The front resonator should be 18" long and spiraled (look inside).

This vid has a Devil rear muffler. Would be a tad quieter if fitted to a road car.
