Hi,
Just be sure to clean both surfaces up very well and best to use an 8 sided socket on the cam cover bolts so that you don't round them off.
Put a dab of silicone/gasket maker etc., into the bottom corners (exhaust). Only tighten to 10Nm. The bolts have shoulders, so doing up any tighter will only lead to tears when threads break off in the head. I'm not sure how you could round a head off with only 10Nm.
Agreed but only on the Xu10 engine. The bolts holding down the coil cover. But never on the Xu9.
Haha, you should have seen some of the Peugeot workshop efforts on one of my Mi16 motors. Heads bolts stripped, cam cover bolts non existent, half the manifold bolts missing and the rest rounded. Then we opened the motor further.....Dont ask
As for the gasket replacement, as Peter said really. Just take your time with it to get right. Clean and prep.
Cam
wouldent it be better off doing all the gaskets that way they are done and out of the way?
cheers:cheers:
Not if the rocker covers the only leaky one. The rocker cover is a nice easy one to do.
While we're talking about series 1 cam covers, anyone got a supplier for the sparkplug tube seals? EAI tell me they are no longer available. If no-one knows of a ready supply, I may see about getting a bunch made up.
I'm after one set right now, so look forward to feedback.
Cheers.
