Default peugeot 205 gti seat replacement options

Hello. I'm looking at replacing my drivers seat from the stock gti for something that dos'nt wear out and fall apart so easily.

Do you guys have any recomendations or any links to say.. fit Mi16 seats or something from a japanese import in.

Any step by step how to's would be great. cheers.

If you require a step by step to replace a seat I would hazard a guess you should not attempt it.

I don't now if Mi16 seats will fit, but I can tell you how to spruce up yours.

If you take the fabric off and the foam is not crumbled to dust, you can glue back any piece that has broken and the seat will be like new.

If you need to replace foam, you can use the foam (or the entire seat) off
an Si or any other 205 you can lay hands on. Use the inner bolsters to replace your crumbled outer bolsters, glue them on (use contact adhesive generously), put the fabric back on, and voila! you've got a brand new pair of seats.

405 seats no good as they are designed to be bolted to a slanting floor.
They will be too flat in a 205, the front of the seat will be too low.
205 Si seats are better than the GTi ones.

Lots of 205's with Mi16 seats in them. Very comfortable but there are a couple of issues. You will need to remove the door pockets as the seats are wide and with that you'll lose the window button holder. Also MI16 seats don't flip forward so you would have to register the car as a 2 seater. And lastly and with all non 205 seats they are made from dark matter so weigh more than 4 suns. Other options are 306 seats but again these weigh a tonne but arenít as wide so you can keep the door pockets. All options will need some fabrication to fit so your best bet would be to find a fabricator to fit which ever option you go for.

    Default PDJ Right on!

This fit was a trial and error process, lifted the seats in and out about 400 times and had to drill holes and make brackets etc.

And NO I will not fit another set for anyone!

Short answer: no, basically nothing other than Si seats will fit without modifications.

Long answer: yes, after you chop, weld, grind, butcher, remove trim, and adjust 8 times.

This topic comes up all the time. The narrow width of the 205 really narrows down your seating options so unless you are willing to do as stated above then you're better off with Si seats.

I was in the same position, heeded the many recommendations for Si seats and found myself some low KM Si seats in great condition at the wreckers. Old seats out/new seats in = less than 1 hour. You can add me to the list of Si seat devotees.

in Holland I have seen 205's with

    405 mi16 seats
    Citroen XM seats
    309 GTI/16V
    306 GTI seats

it is never a straight 1 on 1 fit, but if you are handy with a welder you can make anything work

    That much about originality.

    One idea comes to mind.

If 306 seats are the same width, perhaps the foam can be transplanted on the 205GTI frame? A pig of a job, but the result might be worth it.

Absolutely, but where do you get new foam from? After market is not going to be the same, because the original is moulded to shape. Cutting new foam to shape is like trying to carve chewing gum, and just using square shaped foam is going to look horrible.

I think you used bits of foam cut from another seat. That is what I did too, and recommended above, but those are not new foam.

I have seen those, but I am not sure about the glueing bit. The area where they're supposed to glue on the bottom/back pad is very very thin/narrow. Not sure that would hold. The inner steel frame will help for sure.

I went to a very big effort and put black 2003 WRX STI Momo semi-buckets in mine and the result is great. I had to completely take off all the seat mechanisms and weld on new mount plates. They are not adjustable but I dont plan to sell the car.

Also, let me again say that the seat body mounts are flimsy and possibly cracked. lift the carpet and have a look. In a big accident the seats and you could rip out all together. I cant remember but I think the standard seat also holds the belt clip - this means that the pissy mounts are holding you and the seat to the car.... all ok until 205 and heavy things go bang.

If you do what I did then you will likely need an engineers certificate and that is another process all by itself
