I think you can! I thought that anything older than 1991 can be registered in Australia.

This being a 90 it should be fine.

Actually it has to be built before 1/1/89 to enable easy compliance. And given it is modified it does not stand a chance. the rules on the import scene have changed to only accept "standard" cars. I haven't bothered to find out how standard "standard" is.

Does putting on an aftermarket rear muffler make it modified? Certainly during compliance testing I found it was difficult enough to pass the noise test with the standard exhaust.

I have seen that the Skyline and popular car importers have a std set of suspension, exhaust, turbo and ecu to get the cars through the compliance, to then spend the next few days putting all the good gear back on.

Oh man regulations are a funny thing! I guess one could build one here but its not common to hear about people in australia spending the time and money on such a project in a 205. Also due to the scarse resources.

Yea i know! It would be massive, but not impossible! I mean i have not got anywhere near the skills but the right person can definitely makemit happen! At the end of the day you need to make fit the cosworth drivetrain, or mitsubishi evo drive train.

You have to fabricate alot including new engine mounts, suspension arms, subframes, suspension tunnel and indipendend rear suspension.

Massive project but not impossible if you have the enginnering and fabricating skills. There would be many people out there that would be adequate for the task!
