    Default 205 Rear Beam Bearings

Hey all 205 ers (or anyone else who can help me)

Where should I get the bearings for a Rear Beam rebuild on my 205GTI?
I noticed that they are for sale in the UK in kits, which include other seals, or does somewhere here sell these kits?
The beam I will be rebuilding I do not know the history of, but no camber issues looking at it.

Anything else I should look at to try and gauge if I need more parts for the rebuild?
Ideally want to have it done in a weekend, so want to preorder parts before attempting the build.

    Thanks,
    Michael

    Thanks Graham,

Not wanting to put a damper on it but there is an 80% chance that you will need to replace the steel shafts aswell.

I thought my beam was ok although a bit noisy until I pulled it apart to replace the bearing. The shafts were gone as well. ...and the same with a spare beam I had.

I spose what Im getting at is try to get a package price for shafts and bearings be it here in Oz or overseas.

I did see your thread there PugMonkey, and that was kind of what I was getting at. Are all the parts for a rebuild available in Australia, and should I just get a full kit and rebuild it as a matter of course, just to prevent future incidents?

The parts are all available here in Oz. Shop around though as the price can vary and with the bigger dollar items like these, it can be quite a considerable amount.

Just so that people know for future reference, just rang Caravelle and they don't stock rear bearings or trailing arm shafts.

    Cheers PugMonkey,
Also EAI don't sell the shafts either, so the local service department is the other option. Been in contact with the ebay sellers above, will see how much postage comes to.

I've got a set of both of those ebay items here, waiting to go into a beam. The postage pushed the total well over the $500 mark from memory, which ends up being about the same price as purchased from the local Pug dealer. The bonus of the kit is that you get all the screws etc. Both items are the same seller, paragonpug1. They'll package it all together.

I looked into this several months ago and EAI etc were way more expensive than UK sellers.
