Default 1994 405 SRDT air recirc prob.

Hi all, problem with my 405 air recirc button (electronic one) that in whatever position its pressed there is a constant electic motor humming noise from behind centre dash. Im guessing its a jammed motor which moves the recirc flap? Havent pulled it apart yet but is this a easy fix?
    regards Mark

Common issue - motor strips its gears.

    Have one spare somewhere...

Cant get to it to remove as no room, and i dont want to pull out the whole dash.
Where do you recon I can disconnect the motor from, just to isolate it as no need for recirc anyhows?

Yep common problem, and also with D8 model 406.
Easiest thing is to pull plug off the motor/gearbox (little brown rectangle box about 70 -90mm long.)
Next thing is to set the flapper that the unit drives to fresh air (as opposed to recirc).

    Hi,

What I did was lift the bonnet and take out the pollen filter which resides underneath the plastic cover on the top right of the engine bay (passenger side) where you'll be left looking at the reciculation flap.

I then manufactured a small piece of coat hanger or fencing wire into a prop to hold the flap open, (mine was closed causing the car to be fogged up most of the time).

This has worked well for six years. Just remember to slide fan to slowest speed when following another smelly ol' diesel or car on a dusty road.

    Cheers.

Good idea that FB, it worked out sweet and set it to fresh, also even got to clean out a heap of old leaves, twigs, dirt and crap that I didnt even know was under there. Killed 2 birds with one stone.
    thanks for the tip.
