405 Grille - STI or other

Well, a few freeway/country trips take their toll.

Rather than spraying the 'standard' grille again, I am in the market for a STi grille (chrome inserts) or an aftermarket one (open style like some 205's - Guttman Grille??) Am loving the new honeycombe style like 406's and mesh grille on some 'Dunnydores'

If anyone knows where and costings - I love your work already!

The grille with chrome inserts was fitted to all US/Canada model 405s, as well as later EU models such as the new 405 Style I had in France in 1995

BTW, that car was painted the gorgeous "Bleu de Sèvres", a pearl finish, and the chrome on the grille accented the dark blue colour beautifully.

So if STIs are hard to fine (d'oh, FIND) in AUS, check out US sources.

    Cheers, Mike

Hey there Mike! I assume you are the same Mike from Yahoo Groups. Welcome and stuff...

I think that color was called "Blue Mica" in my US 1991 405 pamphlet. It was a dark blue metallic (?) with a beautiful pearl coat.

That's the color I want on my 505 STI... actually it's the color I want on all my cars. I have this thing for dark blue cars.

    Anyway...

Joe, we meet again. Yes it's me on Yahoo. Thanks for the help with my still dead 405!

My 1991 405 brochure lists an "Antheor Blue Pearl", a colour I've seen on one 405. It's nice, but definitely not the same colour as "Bleu de Sèvres". The latter was called "Servugablau Perlmutt" in Germany, if that helps...

The Bleu de Sèvres is an incredibly rich colour, looking almost like medium blue in bright daylight, and with a purplish hue in overcast light and at night. The closest thing I've seen to this colour over here is Mercedes' Capri blue pearl metallic. It's almost identical, though the M-B colour is slightly darker.
