Icon5 206 air con blows cold on passenger side only...??

Are there any air con experts out there who can explain what could be causing this?

Just taking a stab at your problem, ther is probably a door in the HVAC suitcase that isn't working properly. I don't know if it's vacuum or electric motor operated, but: if vacuum, I would look for a vacuum hose that has come undone. If electric, check simple and stupid first. Have you done any work underdash lately? Check for a disconnected motor, or a disconnected ground. Do you leave stuff-n'-junk on the dash? Something may have fallen in, jamming the blend door. Cold air out the defroster vents? I know pulling the dash is a pain you can live without- carefully check underdash on both sides. A small, strong flashlight is a wonderful thing.

    ^^Thanks hotrod.

I've had a quick look but didn't see anything obvious, will have to give it a good long look.

Just to be clear, fan is blowing as per normal through all vents, it's just that it's cold through the passenger side and not though the drivers side.

Anyone else got any other suggestions?

    Sounds familiar...
Have a read through this thread - this is a series 1 Citroen C5, but still a PSA product.

    Default air con

I don't know if this helps... but I have a Citroen C4 which constantly blew hot air out of the driver's side of the split aircon system... it was a fault PSA knew about and they developed a kit to counter the problem... on the C4 it was PSA part number 6450XZ and I got it from European Auto Imports for around $40... My local Peugeot Citroen dealer wanted about $90 for the same thing..

I installed it myself (be careful, the plastic dash surrounds are just clipped in many places, not always screwed) and the problem was fixed... basically the kit contains a plastic mounting and a plastic cog extension... I think the problem was the previous plastic (don't you love plastic crap) wore and the control would no longer move the cog ( it would just slip instead of the teeth connecting with the other cog)... I don't know if your 206 uses the same PSA system, but if it does, that's probably your problem..

    Good luck

    Thanks Greenblood and Geopug.

Sounds like I need to investigate the flap control motor.
Does anyone know if this is accessed through the glovebox on the 206 like it is on the Citreon?

No Australian 206 models have dual/split zone temperature controls, as far as I'm aware.

    I'm very impressed!

What year model and spec level is this 206?

    It's a 99-2000 206 xt

No it definitely doesn't have zone controls...just a basic air con.
I'm no expert but it makes sense that it'd be some kind of valve, flap, switch etc that is not allowing the cold air through to the driver vents.

    Any other ideas??

Will go into Peugeot service centre today (not something I enjoy doing).... See if they can clue me in on which part it's likely to be.

Yes, well I tried but they weren't very helpful, just as I expected.

"could be anything mate, you'll have to drop it in and get one of our diagnostic guys to take a look"

    Me "how much?"

    "$120 an hour"

    "ok, bye"

What's frustrating is that it works really well, nice and cold but not in the driver vents!
It's got to be something simple as its a very basic air con.
I might have to pull the dash apart and get in there and take a look myself, it's a big job.
