Default SRDT 405 Battery Dash Light

Hello , someone may be able to help me. The small battery dashlight in my 1994 405 SRDT has come on and doesnt go off it dims a little but stays on. Am I correct in assuming it means the alternator is stuffed or could it be something else????

    Chheck the alternator charge rate.

Field diode in the alternator has probably failed...

It sounds to me like the brushes have worn. ie: The alternator is still good but the brushes aren't making good contact.

11 volts means dead alternator. I'd try find a good second hand one.

    Default Possible faults

The manual says that there is faulty operation of the charging circuit. Loose battery or starter terminals, A broken or slack alternator belt or a bad alternator. I'll add that the wires connected to the alternator have to be clean and tight. If all your connections are clean and tight to the starter/alternator/battery, then its a faulty alternator. Also, the alternator usually charges between 13 and 14 volts when its working well. I hope this helps!!
