405 door button replacement?

Hi Guys,
Does anyone know how to get those door locking buttons back on the wire? Is there a trick to it? I took a few of them off getting the door panels off and havent been able to get them back on. Any help would be awesome!!

Hi

The secret is in getting them off correctly there is a little clip at the front that releases the plastic insert that is ribbed - these hold the button in place if the are stuffed then life becomes difficult if they are in good condition just push them on if not try a LITTLE touch of super glue or PVA wood glue this worked for me many years ago

You need to move the locking tab (the gripper thingy inside the button) down to the lower position. Then slide the button over the wire & make sure tit fits back into the guide on the door trim. Then push the button down until the locking tab moves to the upper position.

If having done that & the button no longer grips the wire, you can get new grippers.

Not sure if they still stock them these days but give EAI a call.

another trick, do it while its locked, standing outside of it, with the window open. That way the button will be in the right position.

I had problems with this when I had a 405... so simple when you know, but a real puzzle if you don't!
