Default How would one go about getting induction noises from a standard gti6 air intake?

    I really miss the induction noises from when I had a pod on But it just feels so much better with the standard intake D;
So how does one get induction noises with a standard intake!? I have that you take the lid off... but isn't the lid facing downwards O.o

And another quick question, is just the earlier gti6 airbox itself metal? Or are they all metal?

Get rid of the resonator and plug the hole with a bung.

S16's airbox is made of metal too.

You could try and cut the plastic intake bit
to make the opening a bit bigger.

    Sorry bad English!

There's a black plastic box connected to the intake pipes next to the airbox, that's the resonator.
You can try taking it off. However, there would be a hole in one of the pipes where the resonator used to connect with. The hole would need to be blocked with something after taking off the resonator, if not it will suck in all sorts of stuff.

Guys over the 306gti6 forum have fabricated a resonator bung to plug that hole. Not sure if they're still making any though.

    Ahhh I see (:
I thought you were talking about a little fancy pod like filter for that hole
I suppose I could just use something around at home (:
Does it make a noticeable difference? o:

The resonator is there for a reason. Leave it there. It helps with top end power..

There's a thread if you look for it (probably close to 8 years old now) about different exhausts on the GTI-6 with separate dyno runs...

Turns out the stock exhaust is the the best option - with the aftermarket ones actually resulting in slight losses...

Otherwise, fit ITBs and cams. More power and glorious noise! Plenty of cash needed though.

I just got just put a k&n panel filter and removed my resonator in my 206 180 got a small power increase and a throaty sound. Nothing spectacular and only on accelerating, cruising around you won't notice much.

I'm sure no offence was meant.

It's an expression attributed JP Morgan
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._P._Morgan

Also widely quoted as being used by Salespeople selling Rolls Royce. The rationale being if you wish buy a RR you have so much money that cost of the car or parts is insignificant compared to your wealth.

PS : you could record the induction on you ipod and replay it !

Dont laugh, but what about an air tube with a diaphragm isolator going from the intake to the dash???

I believe that that the peugeot TT has an elaborate version of something like this.

Sorry no offense was meant just suggesting that to go from low budget induction noise cost to megadollar underbonnet improvements seemed a big leap.....
