    Default 205 Speedline's re-painted

Had a bit of spare time over the holidays so i decided to get off my butt and paint my wheels.

I went with a dark gun metal metallic grey.
I figured that my car will never be stock so it didn't really matter that i didn't keep the original light grey colour.

Here are some pics of the wheels and a sneak peak on the car.
I will take some proper photo's of the gti when its finished.

P.S - sorry about the photo quality, taken with my phone.
    Cheers

    good job
looks nice with the sorrento green.
I was thinking of going inbetween the original silver and the colour you have used on mine.
I think that the darker car colours suit darker wheel coluors.

A lot of prep is the key but it helps if your wheels are in good nick.
Mine had little gutter rash but the paint was faded and worse for wear.

Start with sanding entire wheel, from coarse grade paper to fine.
I left the tyres on due to laziness (have the machine in my mates factory) but if you can take the tyres off it makes it easier.
Mask up the tyre and spray.

We had some left over of this colour so that narrowed the choice down.
I think somewhere between this and light grey would look great!

    Cheers

Haha, yeah it does look a bit pumped in the photos.
Its actually not that high, keep in mind I had just jacked the car up to put the wheels on.

    Hey MICAH!
I am undergoing a paint job on my 306's cyclones and am painting them a BBS gold (:
And was wondering a bit of a detailed procedure on how you did it?
From prep to the drying process?
    Greatly appreciated!

    Hey Brad.
As i mentioned previously, it helps having good wheels to start with.
Basically all i did was sand the wheels back, to remove flakey paint and scuff marks.

-Start with a coarse grade paper (in my case offcuts of skateboard griptape, haha) and work your way down to a fine grade paper, making sure you have a smooth surface.

-If not removing tyres, mask wheel with masking tape, thin tape is easier around where the rubber meets the rim, then thicker to cover the rest of the wheel.

-Then spray away. Painting method may vary depending on what kind of paint you use.
I used automotive etch primer then pressure pack automotive paint. You can get any base colour made up at specialty stores. Then finish with a gloss coat/s.

-Let dry/cure for a few days. Its still kind of soft so try not to scratch it. after a few weeks/months being in on the car and in the sun it is as hard a a rock.

I have done this to the last 4 cars i have had and the results are great and it saves you a ton of cash.

It may be the reflection of the fence on the wheels that gives it a goldish tinge in the first pick.
That said, it is a pretty high metallic fleck so i guess with the right light it could have some gold to it.

    Cheers

    Looks great Matt.

Nope didn't use filler. I wasn't to fussed with a few little scuffs.
If my wheels were more rashed i would have.

same here. actually though, those crazy front seats make for poor leg space in the rear.
I like the previous TT Rs4, which is apparently much more fun. A good one is still $50K+ though.
