    Default 1995 306 key lost - transponder???

    Hi All,
Mydaughter's 1995 306 cabriolet is now minus its only key - yes I know...

I have a key code from teh dealer to get a new one cut, but does it also have an electronic transponder? I don't have the books. The key we used had no alarm or blippy buttons.

Does anyone know whether i can just get a key cut and use it?

1995 306's don't have transponders in the keys. The electronic gadgetry in the key fob only relates to the central locking.

I have a 1995 306 cab which also has an immobilser, with the led cut neatly into the steering wheel. The car won't start without the immobiliser being activated. It's a really good security precaution, and I was beginning to think all cabs from 1995 on might have them. My 1994 cab doesn't have an immobiliser.

I think that when the two button fobs came into being, a chip was needed in the key, from that time on - circa 1998 or so.

So, in answer to your question, Yes. And get a spare cut as well.
