    203 on Carsales

There has been one around to this description for many years.
When last seen it was painted midnight blue and was for sale in Melbourne.
Pity the Peugeot rear end was dispensed with, much of the suspension advantage these cars have has been lost.

    What size is the engine?

    The details say it's a 1.3, but in the comments it's a 3.3?

    Mike.
Started out with nothing, still got most of it left.

looks like dennis weirs old car

that car started in canberra and was blue, it then went maroon and silver and last i heard blue again

the diff i hope is in the car correctly by now as last time i drove it that thing was very loose to drive but quite good in a straight line

it also spent some time at a 'mechanic' in sydney who was supposed to do some work to it but was found out to be having a good old time driving it around and charging the owner for the priviledge

anyway if it is the same i know the car well

Each to their own. After all there are those who like hot rods. But it is no investment.

I can remember when Denis built the car. Years before he had had a 203 but with a Zephyr engine. After driving this 203 around he thought it could do with a bit more oomph and originally put the Holden engine in with the only modification being tilting the radiator at the bottom and the adaptor for the bell housing so he could change it back to standard when he wanted. He fitted an XU1 exhaust manifold as full extractors would not fit. However it all went by the way when he decided to fit gas upright shocks in the rear and as he did it he put in the Holden transmission and drive train. He put the fancy seats in as he had a real back problem. The last I saw of it it was maroon and after a few drives I could appreciate why he did it. It went very well. Nice to see it still around.

    Mike.
3.3 If I had it I would get a friend who worked for the Holden Dealer Team back in the glory days of the XU1, Matt Philip, to build me a proper engine.

    or do the common thing

    triple 175 strombergs, 30/70 cam, and use a 186 not the 202

bore it out 20thou, fit extractors and of course chrome the rocker cover

Gasons at Ararat used to assemble an MG TD replica. I suppose the body was fibreglass and put on Japanese mechanicals and running gear. Mazda I think. Satisfied some, horrified others. I'm sure there would be a market for a similar 203 replica, bolted atop some Japanese machinery and with cats supplying the ID plates - a nice litttle earner and as much a 203 as some of the modifieds on the road.
