    I've just done this.

I'm about to put the beam back under my 205 this week.

after a painful day of smashing the stub axel nuts off, due to whoever previously worked on it MASHED the **** out of them, just to find that the drums are being difficult as all hell to remove. Tomorrow the slide hammer comes into play.

I will post a photo of the stub axel nuts tomorrow, good laugh they are.
Hopefully cover a bit more ground tomorrow than removing two, very ridiculous, nuts.

I know it sounds silly but I did make this mistake, is handbrake dis-engagded?

There is a good write upon the 205gtidrivers forum on tearing down a rearbeam.

I should have probably explained what I am doing a little clearer.

The bearings are shot in my rear beam. I do not have the time (or effort) at the moment to rebuild mine.

So I have bought a rear end of a 205 SI with good condition bearings.
I also have a disc conversion kit, comprising of 306 stub axels, wheel bearings, discs, calipers, pads and handbrake cables.

I ripped the entire hub assembly apart, put in the new stub axels and installed the disc assembly.

On MY 205, I have completely taken out the handbrake cables (the instulation around my original cables are split and what not), disconnected the brake lines and chopped off the ridiculious muffler (had obviously rusted through on the bottom and they place a metal plate up and siliconed the entire bottom of the muffler).

The rear beam is ready to drop out, which I'm about to do in the next hour or two (still waking up).

Once I have dropped out the original rear beam, I shall be swapping over the torsion bars and then BAM! Back in it goes.

At the end of this process, I shall have a spare rear beam which, at a later date, will be fully rebuilt, painted and have solid mounts. But at the moment I just wish to get this thing rwc and rego'ed. Sick to death of driving my POS mazda 323.

I'll do a post later with some photos for all.

    Dan
