    Default 404 front spring question

    Hi all,
how can I identify 404 wagon/ute front springs from a selection of loose springs out of the car? I need the Australian wagon front coils and base plates for my South African spec wagon(long story); a gentleman up here has a stash of NOS and second-hand parts for 404's, but they are not all tagged anymore. Would anyone have the specs(coil diameter, number of coils, free height etc) for these? Or even better, the springs/base plates? Thanks,
    Nigel

If you just get a set of the smaller diameter base plates and tops and a pair of springs to suit with the same colour codes as each other you should be fine.

Further to Grahams info...the wagon /ute springs are 145mm diameter and 300 mm length ( out of the strut).
The sedan springs are about 170mm diameter, and grow longer than the wagon spring when liberated from the strut AFAIK.
