    Default 306 temperature

    Hi guys,

    i have just bought a a 1994 306 XT with 185k on the clock.

The thermostat hovers around the 90-95c mark. Is this high?
I am quite paranoid after blowing a head gasket twice before.
Any advice on prevention would be appreciated.

    Cheers

Check that BOTH he fans are working..if its only 1 fan its not kicking in til too late...read waht Ive said about fixing this as its a common fault and 306 head gaskets are all too common and quite often a result of this stupid design

I fitted a diesel thermostat to my 306,405 SRI S1 and 2 and S2 Mi16. I think 82 degrees instead of the 88? degree standard one. I also didn't like mostly running around the 90 degree mark. No change in the running or fuel economy that I could tell.
