    Default what to buy

g'day all, looking to buy a cheap runabout for a young friend and I have my eye on a
    01 306 rallye or a 02 307 xse, both about 150k kms, both manual 5 door hatches.

Is the last of the 306's a better sorted car than the first of the 307's?

I will be doing timing belt and water pump unless there is recent proof.

both cars are straight and tidy and drive well.

    looking to spend $5-6.5k.

perhaps someone has someone on here has a better deal for me!

Any used car is only as good as the Owner and Sevice care....

The 306 will have less potential electrical issues and gremlins.

2011 Renault Koleos manual petrol, yes it's boring, but not as boring as:

The BSI unit is basically a computer which
handles a multitude of functions such as
odometer value, central locking, lights and
immobiliser and were fitted from 2002 onwards. So they were not fitted to the 306 which by the way a great car. I have 2 which my kids drive and they love them, the perfect first car. If you can I would look for an XSI especially the later years which had front and side airbags, EBD and ABS.

As far as I know they were a slightly downgraded model to the XSI eg. no leather seats or drivers adjustable lumbar support or electric windows etc. However most buyers generally spec'd them with elec windows etc at time of purchase. I think either model would be a good purchase.

    I've had a 306 and an early 307. Get the 306.
