At risk of appearing to be a serial alarmist (too late) as a logical-ish extension of my engine crack challenge, has anyone had experience, whether attempted/failed or succeeded in putting a 1.8 306 head on a 2-litre 206Gti aluminium block. I know that is on the face of it, a retrograde step, but I have the 'makings' on hand, and it could be a money-saver, albeit a very high compression one. That would result in a 2-litre single OHC all aluminium engine that should result in at least 10% more grunt (guessing of course). One big unknown is the relationship of the valves to the 206 pistons (crown height). Anyone who has a 206 Gti engine with head off (not 180), I would much appreciate a look.
