    Sean,

Steve Palocz uses the electronic ignition system from a Volvo 264 in his 604.

    thanks dave,
do you know if he had to modify it at all for the 604
i was always under the impression that the volvo ones wouldn't wokr in a 604 lump

I know a bloke who put one on his 604, it worked fine, no problem !

Unlike my 604 which is getting the whole Volvo setup in it: Engine, Electronic Distributor and Volvo ignition !

All this stuff is out of a 264!

    Sean,

You'd best ask Steve for the details of the conversion. His email address was one of the ones I sent you the other day.

I don't know where the ignition system in my 604 came from, just assumed it was ex volvo 264. The lobes in the dizzy are not evenly spaced, but in 3 pairs, so to accommodate the odd fire engine.

If the volvo is even fire, then it clearly isn't a volvo unit.

    Hope this helps,

The LPG is just great. It idles a lot smoother, starts every time, pulls a lot smoother, and the oil is always clean.

Best of all is the economy. Went from about $15 per 100km to $10 per 100km. Thats at Tamworth price of 0.57c, it would probably be about $6 to $7 in the capital cities.

The other good thing is all the anti-pollution stuff is gone, allowing the enegine to breathe like it was designed to.

    Cheers,

All the PRV V6s were ODD fire until about 1985/1986.
