    Default 205 heater smell

My air system, whether on 'heat' or not, smells a bit unusual. Is it likely that the matrix has a small leak? I think the smell is coolant-like. Could the smell be generated before it goes through the matrix box?
I am prepared to have a crack at cleaing out the whole system - any pointers?

The obvious question, have you just noticed this change or has it always been there ?

Next the only way you should get a whiff of coolant is if there is a leak somewhere. Check bulkhead hoses on outside for leak then move to inside under dash behind centre console.

My heater matrix let go without warning and dumped it's contents in the passenger footwell. Easy to replace in a Series 3 without dismantling dash. Good luck.

I think it has always been there. I would have expected a small leak to become a big one quickly too. I just wonder if the hoses etc are now a bit ancient. hmmmm

My 307 had a bad oily exhausty unburnt fuel smell for some time then stopped.
It only came up when it had been running for a bit with the demister on during cold mornings.
Turned out to be the AC evaporator coil leaking AC gas into the air into the cabin.

Very expensive to repair - worth about half the cost of the car... $2,500 was one quote.

So now I just drive the old triton ute if I need AC.

If it is a coolant like smell then the heater matrix has a small leak.

Try a bottle of Nulon R50 radiator stop leak. (the heater matrix is a little radiator after all)
I have used it on 2 cars with this problem and it worked well.

    Cheers

No recaros in my one, is not an R27. The ride is stiff enough!

Um yeah I would not expect much more for it given it is getting a bit rough now and has 273,000kms on the clock.
But if you want to pay me more for it then, yes thank you I will take your money.
I will probably keep it for another year.

Jeebus feels like yesterday that the 307 was released. Hard to comprehend one having 270k kms.
