    Default 205 GTI exhaust

Does anyone have any experience with this exhaust:

I don't know anything about them but I do know that unless you plan on making some serious horsepower your money could be better spent due to the excellant design of the standard exhaust manifold.

If your current manifold is cracked (like most 205GTI exhaust manifolds are) go out and get yourself a 306 item (there only recently a thread on this, exhaust manifold exchangability).

I would agree that the std exhaust manifold is quite a good design. These pipes look quite well done with reasonable lengths, and at only 175 pounds, plus a bit of nasty freight, it is inexpensive compared to getting a custom set made like I did many years ago.

Once modified with cam, compression and port work, the biggest gain is by going to an aftermarket computer and getting rid of the air flow sensor, which is a flap type. A set of pipes as above, would compliment the overall gains with those mods.

I had these on a 205 gti dimma i had, plus a full peco system after the manifold was a nice system.

although dronned a little (that maybe due to the peco parts though) was very torquey compared to std.

Cool. Thank you very much everybody, again.

Now, where's that thread about 306 GTI manifolds, please?

Gezza, what do these mean (peco, dimma, etc)? Sorry, I am old, don't know all this stuff.

Try that. That'll give you more than a couple options.

A dimma is kind of like a poor mans 205T16.

Kind of similar body kit with out the grunt.

Not my cup of tea if I'm honest. So sorry to those I offended for calling it a "poor mans T16".

So if I use this exhaust, I will have to cut back the original system and weld back the flange. Is this modification going to affect the CAT?

    To be honest,

It would kind of pointless runing a set of headers/extractors and using the original exhaust. Going from a bigger pipe to a smaller pipe is best left for turbo motors.
