    Default 306 light switch clicking

I'm sure we've been here before!

Out of the blue, our 306 is providing a fast "relay sound" clicking when the light switch is in the neutral position. If we select flashers, for either side, they work perfectly and the lights and horn functions are perfect.

However, the rest of the time we have a fast and loud clicking somewhere in the dash area but no lights are flashing.

I have a vague idea this happened before about 8-10 years back and we ended up replacing the switch assembly (not cheap).

    Any ideas and suggestions welcome!

    Cheers

You can either change the switch or pull it apart and clean it out. Just be careful with 15 year old French plastic. Years of use have made little bits of metal wear and stick in the grease. It is just making contact in the neutral position hence the rapid clicking.
Rectified the same defect on the XM several years ago. Good luck.
    Regards,

    Garth.

Look. I even have pictures. Note: Relevant to XM not sure about 306 can't be too much different though.

Double thanks Garth! I'll buy a new one and fit it and THEN pull the old one apart I think. Wife's car and it needs to be on the road.
