Default 306 N3 model roof light removal

I want to get at the remote transponder for the central locking, which really ought to have the whole plastic shroud removed first. I can prise the map light out, but am wary of getting the main light out as it's a bit tight, and I might break it. My Uk Haynes manual desribes something different, and isn't at all helpful.

Some guidance in this sphere would be helpful

Mine is an N5 with a sunroof, so this may not apply to yours at all (I've never had a good look at an N3) but I did the same job (for the same reasons) a few weeks back.

There was a cover over the back half of the roof console that was glued on to the rest of the it. Once removed there were 4 torx screws holding the console to the roof, easily unscrewed and that's how I got to the rest of the gear under there.

Forgive me if all this is inapplicable, but the glue stuff definately flummoxed me for a while, I didn't enjoy having to tear it off whilst hoping nothing cracked.

Thanks for that. I was really hoping that there might be an easier way. If anyone will break plastic bits, it'll be me!!

Is there anyone who'se done this with an N3?

    I removed mine - back in '99 so I'm a bit rusty

There was no glue - perhaps an aftermarket "fix".

I simply levered out the map light and remote control dome (the black shiny thing) and that gave me access to the two screws holding the module on. Once they were out it simply unhooked.
