Default New arrival to the garage

A long-standing dream of mine has been realised today... as I took delivery of my new toy, a 1974 504 Ti, in a delightful shade of 'brighter than a Melbourne taxi' yellow.

A picture tells a thousand words, so to save uploading a new one I'll recycle the one that Beano put in the ad for the car:

It's very nearly completely original, and my intention is to return it to completely original. To that effect I will put a ad in the Parts For Sale/Wanted forum shortly with my wishlist!

Anyway, to drive it, it is about as close to a brand new 1974 504 as you could imagine. Beautifully quiet and smooth, and with the suspension, steering, brakes, gears, clutch all as tight as the maker intended!

It gets so much attention on the road and when you're stopped, everybody looks and smiles! I was all smiles too for the drive home, and can't wait to go somewhere random tomorrow just for the sake of it!

    Congratulations....

It looks superb...and its a nice feeling driving these old machines...especially when they are in great original condition...Every morning I get up I have a choice of at least three or four cars I could drive...the 604 gets most use...they truly are very nice machines...

    well done

I looked at that ad for ages -- it looks like such a lovely car -- and a great colour. Enjoy!

Scott, that is terrific news! I'm glad that lovely car has stayed "in the family".

Nice to see you want to take it back to standard. I've also thought that the first thing I would do if I bought that car would be to fit standard wheels and correct mirrors. What's the go with the windows? Have they been converted back to manual instead of electric?

More pics are necessary, please! And what ramifications will this purchase have on the ZDJL 504 project?

    Needs a V8 and a 9 inch locker!

But top purchase - looks like one of the last "really super tidy" 504's out there!

And just for those who are uber jealous there seems to be an equally nice 404 available...

I am so tempted to bid but have too many vehicles already...

The 74 Ti's usually had manual windows, although I did have one with electric windows, a white one. I think all the yellow ones might have had manual windows though.

only LTI's had electric windows and they were an option on other 504's

LTI's were only on the market for less than 12 months, i remember ripping a couple of them apart

Izzat so? Seems to me that TIs always have electric windows, and I've never seen a GL with electric windows.

all my TI's had wind up windows

My old mans TI had electric windows fitted as an option

the LTI's i scrapped had them

they were an option that most didn't get as it just added cost to the already relatively expensive car

LTI's came with auto, tinted windows, sunroof, power windows, metallic paint and i think they also got A/C but i'm not 100% on that one

the other features i'm 100% though

My 76 TI, the last one sold in NSW, had electric front windows [ but was a dog despite having been babied throughout its life and only having 50000km- it just wasn't a patch on my 72 injection]. Neil

I Had a June built 76 Ti One of the last of them as ADR pollution and egr came in July 76, No Ti's were made here after June 76. It was copper bronze Manual and it had electric front windows, it was a great car, it did go pretty well, but the rust got it in the end.

After owning a 504 Ti some years ago I wondered why Peugeot bothered to make the carby version.

    Default Ti

Yep, great purchase Scotty. I love the colour. No wonder people take a good look at it and smile. Actually I like the wheels also.

An aside: With early 504 colours, I remember seeing a bright yellow one in Sydney back in the late 80s and thinking how good it looked. I had an avocado green one at the time which was a bit less exciting but still nice. A guy I knew had a purple one which was really unusual - got it for a song as no-one else wanted it. I now have a Trak Yellow one and today I polished the bonnet a bit - amazing how it started out pretty much black and now it is starting to look shiny (a bit anyway).

Enjoy the new ride! Hopefully hear from you soon about those parts.

Hazels had one when they had the dealership in Nth Parra that was a purple one

maybe the same car as i remember them saying that yes it was a stand out colour but it was such that no one ever wanted it

i can recall seeing the car a few times parked outside the lot while we were visiting the dealership
