Default 405 HDi Cylinder head oil leak (Diesel)

After washing down the motor I discovered that the oil leak is coming from the front edge of the head gasket. It would appear that either the head gasket may be faulty, or perhaps the workshop may have left some of the old gasket material on the block allowing oil to make its way out from between the head and the block. It may also be possible that the head bolts had not been replaced at time of fitment and being that they are torque to yield bolts they may already be stretched to maximum and so may not be tensioned adequately. In any case the head has to come off to see what's going on.

    Nope...

Check the breather pipe that connects to the front of the tappet cover. They have been known to split where they attach.

yes those breather pipes are known to split, especially at the age they are at now.

    Default Oil Leak XUD 1.9

Found the problem.. It seems that it has a faulty head gasket and may be weaping through the laminations of the gasket. In any case the head is off now and it's getting a new set of rings and big end bearings at the same time. Does anyone have a 405 diesel workshop manual that shows the torque setting for the main bearing caps. I'm also chasing the multi stage torque down procedure for the cylinder head on the XUD 1.9 diesel motor. I've bought a manual but it's still a week away. Was hoping to have it all back together by then.
