    Default Mi16 power steering pump

Does anyone know if you can get a a kit to rebuild a Mi16 power steering pump? I thought I had a leaking rocker cover gasket but it's the pump that's spewing out fluid.

    I'd be positive you can.

At the same time, I'd also be positive you could get a darned good result on overhaul at a fair price from David Hill.

It seems hard (as a mug punter) to source some types of kits; you can find things on sites like Alibaba but then you look and the minimum purchase is 100 units or some similarly inconvenient amount.

That's a shame (for selfish types like me). I don't like Mr Rack's attitude, and am not so comfy with his product.

    Default Surprise surprise

I was able to get a kit to put through my power steering pump. Cost me $20.00. Looks like a universal kit that does all pumps with certain years.

There is some paper that comes with the kit. I will take it to work tomorrow, scan it and post it for all to see.

That is an American Saginaw pump, one of the best and cheapest to repair,if the cam ring is worn(look for chatter marks-grooves,also wear at largest diameter-feel edge with your finger-i can supply new ring at a good price).
As i told Addo i am getting out of the power steering and will have all Citroen-Peugeot-Renault parts for sale,

We find that pumps are quite reliable, we hardly sell any and hardly get any calls on them (2CV David) might disagree but I think you'd be very unlucky to get 2 leaking pumps so a good second hand unit might work.
We have lots of them, like I said, we hardly get any enquiries.

If you want to kill a pump run it low on oil,if rebuilding only use a high temp seal kit.

Hi David (both), Initially I thought I had a leaking rocker cover gasket. Over the weekend whilst changing the stater and a coolant hose I now see it is the PS Pump leaking, thus buying the kit.

Also I noticed the ram is not in good (clean) nick. Will I be able to buy a kit for that too or is that part more involved.? I think I have a spare Mi16 one but not sure if it's the same size. (just haven't checked it side by side yet)

Only some rams are easily repairable(ones where the seal is retained by a circlip,i have the seal for series 2 Xantia and XM,cannot remember the shaft size offhand but will advise tomorrow.

Thanks David. Just to confirm it will be the same as a 92 205 gt S2

Before you rush in and send me money measure the shaft diameter and confirm that you can remove the seal,i do not know the size or spec of the 205 ram.
