It's going to be more money that time I think really for what we want to do, but it will be done properly.

Unfortantly I've got a few other things I need to dedicate funds to for the next 6 months so yeah, it's going to be a slow project.
Ah, I see, well as long as it was "stupidly cheap"

Can you post a few pics of the sump? Always good to know what and how it failed.

    Frans,

3 rivets on the front most door on the passengers side failed, the door fell off and allowed the oil to flow away from the pickup.

We found the door sitting on the bottom of the extension we put on. I circled the door that came off.

    EW10J4 (with manifolds, alternator, I think A/C pump also) + Gearbox + Driveshafts + Ecu + Loom = $250 NZD...

From what I've read the differences between the EW10J4 and EW10J4RS (gti180) are in the head. Bigger cam followers, bigger ports, bigger valves... But you can't do much to reshape the ports as there isn't much meat left in them according to Sandy.

I did the techical training a while ago and there are also some oil spray bars for the bottom of the pistons and some other trivial reinforcements, so trivial I dont even remember.
The wrong oil is better than no oil at all.

I think they run a higher compression ratio too. 11.1?

Great buy. Are you sending the head to Sandy? Do that, get some shiny pistons, some Colin bodies etc...laughing! (And broke..)

Get working and saving over the next 6 months!, nice work

Cam it's more I'm trialling for a national sports team here in a couple days - if i make the team I go to the World Cup in July and it's going to cost me about 8k to do so... If I don't make the team the car will be done a lot quicker...
