The 33-year-old, white 504 (officially registered in Mr Ahmedinejadís wifeís name) was apparently the presidentís source of pride for many years, using it as the family drive.
The vehicle is also well known among many Iranians, as the Mr Ahmadinejad used it during the 2005 election campaign to gain support from the battlers of Iranian society.
The money raised from the sale of the car will go towards the Mehr Foundation Ė a government program designed to help poor families in Iran find housing solutions.
I wouldnt want to go and pick the thing up if I bought it though.

Looks quite nice, too! What a great bit of news for the 504 blog if I had it up and running.

Peujohn, I doubt if the 405 in this photo is Ahmadinejad's. All cars in the photo have Dutch licence plates, the pushbike looks exceedingly Dutch, and even the streetscape couldn't be anywhere else. The rego on the 405 indicates that she was imported into the Netherlands and first registered there between 2004 and 2010.

    Default Pug origins

I have to agree re the dutch landscape, push bike and the street sign too..... I question the rego being later than 2004 though as the Dutch had been using the yellow plates already for some years by that stage. The plates look original Dutch black and whites from the 70's to me. Definately a Netherlands car.

Yellow plates were introduced in 1978.

Dark blue and white. National licensing started in 1951. The 99-ZZ-99 format was used from 1973 till 1978. However, the licence plate in the photo is part of a special series started in 2004 for imported '73-'78 cars.

The people who wrote the article obviously just used a stock photo of a 504 to illusrate what the car might look like.
