Default 407 2ltr HDI sump guard

Well I guess to call the plastic crap a sump guard is actually a misnomer.... crappy thing falls to bits with the slightest bump and costs $600.00 to replace --- does any one know of a replacement metal sump guard

    Thanks 'N' Cheers

Given the sample of the old one a competent metal worker should be able to fabricate a sheet steel or aluminium replacement for less than the cost of the plastic. A serious sump guard on the other hand would need careful design.

There is a metal guard available for the 307. I have one on my car!
Maybe a search of the Peugeot service box web site will turn somthing up for the 407.

Allan Mackay Autos in Moss Vale sell these off the shelf - it's a genuine Peugeot item.

Perhaps you could convince your local dealer to do the same?

The local dealer only has the plasic ones for $650.00 --- I cant beleive that plastic costs so much a bumper bar is only another $150.00.

Thanks I have sent Alan Mockay an email

    Yes they do.
Got one for the 307 and they have the 407 ones in stock.
Your local usurer, (Oh... dealer) can get one for a price, (Cost ++). It should be cheaper than the plastic one.

You must understand that spare parts are priced by a couple of jovial Frenchmen with a spinning wheel and a handful of darts. Actual production costs are very, very low so that the plastic sheet would be produced for just a few dollars.
