    Default GTI 180 Tyres

I am in need of some new tyres for my GTI 180. I am looking at going for the Michelin's Pilot Sport 3's
in which are due out in the next few weeks. Just interested to know what other fellow members with GTI 180's are running? I am even considering going to a 215/40 in attempt to provide a bit more protection to the delicate 17inch rims. Anyone gone down this path??

    G'day,
I have Roadstones, el cheapo, relatively speaking, because, despite what my co-driver says, I do not drive fast.

I have PS3's on my Megane in 235/40/18. They are excellent.

I've just put Toyo R888 on mine. They are lovely and sticky.

They are not quiet, cheap, long-lived, or great in the wet. But I don't care.

Prior to that I had Dunlop Sportmaxx, which are OK.

    Ah, another lost thread

I ran the stock ones (P7000), P Zero Nero and Dunlop Sport Maxx.

The P Zero Neros were the better tyre but the Dunlops were pretty good too (and a lot cheaper than either Pirelli).

I've heard (but have never used them) that Bridgestone Adrenalins are pretty good.

I've got a GTi, not the 180, I'm running Kumho 205/45 (on the stock 16in rims), they're not the best tyre but they're cheap and still reasonably sticky.

If money's no object I can't help I haven't bothered torturing myself checking out what I could (but can't afford) to shoe my car with.

I have recently fitted some falken RT-615s. Not as good as I was expecting in the dry to be honest. Have had way better semi-slicks in the past.

They are surprisingly good in the wet though...

Apparently, the Pilot Sport 3 in the 205/40 are due out in the next few weeks.

Has anyone gone wider and ran 215/40?

Got a pair of BS RE001 Adrenalin up front 205/50 R17 (they were made in 21st week of 2007). Not the best feed back but in wet/ponding water it is still pretty good.

Replaced the rear tyres last nite from Conti SportContactSomething due to age they were cracking on the sidewall to BS Potenza S001 (235/45 R17). If I remember correctly the Contis were made in 2006 and the new S001 were made in 21st week of 2010

I have also bought Toyo Proxes 4 for my 180. They feel heaps better than the crappy Maxxis that were on it previously. They may not be the grippiest tyre, but they are pretty new so that may take time. They perform very well in the wet though, god knows we have had enough water to test them.

I dont do any track work so my standpoint is as a daily driver. They cost $180 per tyre, which seems like very good value.

Thanks for the reply. It helps with the discussion.

Original fitment for these cars was Pirelli P7000 though. What Michelins did yours have on it?

    Default toyo

Toyo Proxes are great. I corner on "the door handles" . unbelievable grip in wet. have worn quicker than I like. Put them on front and get a unidrectional toyo tyre for rear. They are better than michys or pirellis
