    Default New VIN plates

Whatever happened to the Kiwi fellow that was having a batch of new VIN plates made up? I have a contact on S Africa who needs one, in order to get a 404 Cabriolet back on the road.

Send me a PM with your email address and I'll put you in contact with Rhys directly.

I send him the funds, he confirmed receipt, must be three weeks ago. I guess they are being made now based on the numbers in the AF orders.

Default Legality of replacing manufactures id plate

A fellow frogger has has "reminded" me that replacing ID plates could be "slightly" illegal.

Just to clarify in my own mind I contacted Vic Roads who are the body in (Victoria) who register all motor vehicles.

In speaking to a Senior engineer I gained the impression that Vic Roads would be unlikely to worry about a replacement plate provided the number on the plate is the same as the the stamped in number on the vehicle chassis/body.

If any Vic Roads inspector were to be suspicious, then the matter could be referred to Vic Police stolen vehicles register which would delay the registration by a few weeks.

The point was made the primary concern when doing a pre registration check is that the vehicle is not rebirthed, nor stolen and since the cars concerned are 40-50 year old the manufactures plate is not a VIN plate by definition. Not being a VIN plate removes a lot of the definitional hassles.

So make sure you stamp the original number on replacement plate and secure it with the the same fixings
and Vic Roads are unlikely to be worried!

    No jiggery-pokery here. Honest, m'Lud.

Just pretend the brake servo isn't there.

Mike, I would burnish up and oxidise the heads of the pop rivets a bit just so the don't stick out like 'dog's.

Fair enough. Any good ideas how to 'age' the servo?

    Default I'm back!

As well as the AF problems, I have been just a bit involved with Targa NZ, and a totally failed computer, just back tonight.
Plates are underway. Printing tomorrow and ready to send by the weekend.

    G'day Mike,

my daughter and her fiancé have just arrived from Vancouver, well two weeks ago. They now say our weather is just like home. Wet, I think is the word they used. And after I have being telling them that we are in a ten year drought. Just can't win.

    regards

Yeah, November is not a good time of year here. We had snow three weeks back.
