Default Wiring a 504 without an engine???

I have a shell, waiting for me to get off my backside and actually do an engine transplant.

I want to make sure that everything eletrical is working as there is a bit of room without an engine atm.

How do i wire the car up without an engine?

Do i earth the -ve terminal of the batter to the car?

Where do i place the +ve lead that normally connects to the starter motor. The wires that are normall connected to the starter motor, can they just be wired to the +ve terminal.

I want to check that the fan/lights/misc all works, so i want to trick the car into thinking that its wired up properly.

    Any ideas?

    thanks

    Shobbz,

Connect the -ve to a nice shiny bare metal spot on the car's body. You will also have to connect this to the engine when it is put in. It is important to ensure you have a good earth to both engine and car body.

The +ve's that connect to the starter motor and alternator should be taped up so they don't contact the body for the moment. Or if you can, leave them disconnected from the battery. There should be another +ve that goes into the wiring loom to power such things as lights, horn etc, this connects to the battery. Make sure all other leads floating around aren't touching the body or are taped up.

    Matt.
