    Default Pink Slip Mechanic

I need to get my first pinko for my 206 and would like any feedback regarding any mechanic that you guys/gals have used that didnt fail you for silly reasons and didnt tell you to fix something that isnt broken.

Im looking for something around Leichardt. Please dont suggest Paul.V. I need it done in two weeks.

    Hey there.
Paul V doesnt do pink slips himself. I'm getting my car serviced there on Thursday and getting a pink slip done too but he takes it down the road. I think he needs to buy the brake testing machine that prints out the report in order to do the pink slips himself.

For pink slips just about any mechanic will do as long as you dont have any actual work for the mechanic to fix up.

    "Hint of the day"

With these things it's often a wise move to inform the one giving the slip that you won't be getting them to do any "defects" they find.
Doesn't give them any incentive to use their imagination.

If it ain't broke, use a 12" shifter.....that usually does the trick!!

    Yeah. Got my Pink Slip

    Nothing to be fixed... yippee!

went to the highly reputable Kmart tyre & Auto and did the "you aint fixing any defects" suggestion and it worked.

i thought they would of got me for a bung rear windscreen wiper which needs replacing but they didnt???

I looked on the pink slip and it has nothing about wipers. I thought they were a safety device???

Also does anyone know what the brake results mean.

So let's see if I read this right. You wanted someone that wouldn't defect you for "silly things" like wipers, despite knowing your rear wiper is stuffed, and then you're expressing some sort of indignation that they didn't pick up on it?

    I'm confused

No thats not what I wanted

I wanted someone who would do a proper inspection, but, not someone who wouldnt pass me for silly reasons such as having one mudflap on and one off or someone whose gonna tell me something needs fixed e.g. brakes etc even though theres nothing wrong with the car.

Quite happy to repair anything that needs fixed. Just dont wanna get screwed by some mechanic thinking he can make a quick buck off some chick.

But as the wiper was obviously defective im suprised they didnt say anything.

Fair enough. It makes perfect sense when you put it like that.

mate once again I am going to recommend PQ Automotive in Chatswood. (Prestiege Quality Automotive). They specialise in pugs.

I didn't book my 206 in when I went to get my pink slip...I turned up on my lunchbreak to "book" in a time to get the pink slip done...Pierre said "err I am free now, I can do it for you." So he did and I was only away from work for half an hour.

I recommend calling before hand though, but they are very helpful there, and of course they know pugs and won't defect you on pointless stuff

Great. Thanks for this. Im toosing up between this place and Paul.V for my 70K service. My cars 4 yo this Feb but only done 70K, do I need to get the timing belt done guys?

Or can I wait another six months. The car will be about 72K then... Is that risky?

Edit: Cause me fingers aint workin properly

Means the maximum decceleration was 1G (100% -- my car does better ) and the average decceleration from "foot on pedal" to stopped was 0.74G. Speed is probably how fast they were going when the brakes were applied, and pressure is the maximum force applied to the brake pedal (they put a pressure pad on it, I think). 1G = 1 gravity = 10 m/s^2.

Your average would appear to be the same as xonicjan's, for a slightly lower max.

it's a bit of a gamble... I'd personally do it at 4 years old even at 70K no doubt. In fact I did timing belt last August at 35K and 3.5 years just because the water pump was leaking.I thought I might as well do the timing belt with it.

Certainly not worth the gamble for the damage that can be done. Some figures put about with cost are over the top. It is only a few hours work, even with only my skills and collection of tools at home. I usually do them at 50- 60K and would certainly do it at 4years.

    Ok.

    Thanks guys for the advice.

Will get it done next service. Like you all said. Not worth the risk just to save a few dollars now.

If I leave it and damage is caused Ill be so pissed...

So Paul V or PQ Auto?.... Decisions, decisions
