Default How many Ks to a tank do you average? (GTI 180S)

    Hey all,

Just wanted to see what the average ks to a tank you guys get in your 180s to see if mine are about the same. I generally get around 320km to a tank and average about 10l/100km. How does this compare? I'm a lead foot by the way.

    Hey mate

That's bizzare that you are only getting 320 kays out of a full tank. The reason I am saying this is that if your fuel consumption rate is 10L/100 kms and the car has a 50 litre tank, you should be getting some around 450 - 500 kays per tank (allowing for some error in the system). I get about 470 kays with about the same average 10L/100 km fuel consumption rate.

Do you drive with the air con on permanently? I found this really affects fuel consumption.

Combination of highway and city although mostly highway, Im doing

    8.0 - 8.5L/100km roughly 460 - 500km per tank (No air con)
10L-10.5/100km 330-370 km per tank (air con on)

I know mine is not a 206 but it still has the 180 motor in it so i thought id chip in. I get around 580kms to the tank and average around 9.2.
I drive pretty easy most of the time.

Geeesh, got some lead foots amongst us?

I'm getting on Average 9.4L/100kms. Only had the car a month, done 3300kms so far and because it's so bloody hot here in Adelaide the air con is rarely not blasting away.

But I'm getting around the 450-490kms per tank.

I've noticed first thing in the morning the fuel consumption is about double what it normally is until it warms up properly. Anyone else notice this?

are you guys certain you're filling the tanks ? I know with my 306 S16 unless I turn the pump at 45 degrees and press slowly fuel stops going in with about 7-10L left till it's full... I wonder if that's the same in the 206 Gti180. I would be affect your calculations a bit even if it's only a few Ls that doesnt get filled.

I was getting 9.8L/100km a few weeks ago and about 380-450km out of a tank from full to the point where the car tells me the fuel is low, it usually has about 80-100km left in it at that stage.

I got the 40000km service done last week (which includes fresh spark plugs) and it's imporoved. I reset the trip computer when I got it back and after 500km I'm on 9.3L/100km doing the same driving that I was doing before.

My record fuel consumption was on the Hume Highway, from Enfield in Sydney through to Albury. One tank all the way, 522km and filled up with 41.22L.

Hmm that is quite concerning. I never drive with the air con on. I'd due for a 10,000 km service so i'll get it checked out then along with a few other little issues that appear to be common on this forum.

    Thanks Everyone.

I must be getting old... I'm getting 600-650km per tank and averaging ~7.5L/100km. I've been driving more sedately and leaving the agro and the need for speed for the track.

I am with Tas 180 GTI:

My thing on the dashboard tells me i'm getting 8.4 and i'm a lead foot....i live in country Tas. does not spend much time in town, oh says about 550ks to empty when i fill it up

I have found very little differecne with the auto setting on the aircon on and the eco setting. Do notice the loss of power though with the aircon. Maybe is Tassie we do not need the aircon much!!

Record fule consumption over roughly a kilometer was 29L/100km. Mate in a Subaru Lberty GT dud 110L/100km over the same kilometer. That is 50km between refills.

I drive with the Climate Control permanently on, and at worst I get 8.6l/100km. This gives me at least 550 km per tank. I certainly don't drive like a grandpa (not that there's anything wrong with that..) but I'm not often driving in peak hour-like conditions either, so that certainly helps quite a bit, judging from some of the figures quoted here

If you're the type to always turn the A/C off, I'd have to encourage you to give it a decent run every week or so, or it will fail on you and you'll be on here complaining that it's not working anymore

I guess it's cold down in Tassie, as ECO is a/c compressor off, and it would result in a massive difference in Sydney - it would be too hot

Good point Jim. Are you guys relying on the trip computer for fuel consumption calculations or the accurate method of average fuel consumption from Number of litres taken to fill it after doing a Number of kms?

    Usually around 600-650kms per tank.

Dash shows an avg of 7.5L/100kms but I always calculate the consumption manually. I fill her to the brim, divide kms by fuel used to fill up to get an accurate result. Usually 7.7-8.1l/100kms.

ALWAYS using VORTEX 98 - I love the smell and it leaves no black sooty deposits on the exhaust tips.

About 80% city driving, mostly peak hour, getting between 440-490km to a tank. Optimax.

Almost always fill the tank to full, but need to go beyond quite a few pump clicks (a few times overfilled because I didn't get the click at all!). Seems quite inconsistant.

We haven't gotten anything less than 700km on a tank. And we don't drive economically either. Usually the car claims it has a 150km more range in it even then.
Most of our driving is in the city. Highway performance so far shows 5.4 L/100KM is easily achievable. Will probably get better as engine is run-in.

500ish ... average around 8.5-8.8 (mainly city driving), have got 700+kms from a tank sitting at 100kph for over 7 hours non-stop, but that's rare.

I get about 8.5 litres/100 KMs. That's pretty much 100% city driving with some squirts here and there.
