Default Mi16 in For Sale forum

AS you know, nobody but mods can respond in the Cars for Sale board, but I am interested in clarifying this advert.

    http://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/sho...914#post298914

"Mi16 auto"?? Did such a thing exist? Was this done as an extra or is someone having problems defining the model? 1.6 auto perhaps?

If the lister (grant parker) or anyone else would care to comment I'm sure there's a lot who would be interested.

If it is a "True Mi16" that has had a conversion to an auto, all I can say is..What a crime!

Lucky I looked at this before I started another thread on the matter. I reckon Auto would be half decent though. Probably means the cars hasnt been thrashed and if it uses an Automatic transmission out of the 2nd series 405 wouldn't that be good. I can't buy the car as I'm in SA but I reckon it would be worth a look by anyone.

According to the service manual, an auto Mi16 was available in the USA.

If he sourced the right parts I reckon this could be a good buy. I highly doubt it would be left hand drive. But back on a performance issue I think we all better face the facts, a 405 Mi16 is slightly quicker off the mark than a Camira. But they are renowned for their handling capabilities so an Auto would be pretty fun to take around corners and you could probably do it reasonably quick if the transmission allows it. Tell us the deal with you car mate.

There was a car with similar specs on Pickles a while back; it was a silver car and I asked the question at the time if it was a typo but looking at it, it did appear to be auto.
Wonder if a handful made it out here?
You'd think if they sold them in the US they would have let a few go elsewhere to other places where peoples heads hurt when they try figure out how to use 2 feet on 3 pedals.

something to go with my auto 205 5 door ??? I think not... I'll testify to the fact that you can punt an auto through a roundabout/corner fairly quickly however as you don't have to worry about gear changes.

Lets see ... Sounds appealing .... NOT !!! Could you imagine a peaky high revving motor attached to a slugomatic being fun to drive ... Me neither !!!

That's two of them we have heard of now including the one Alan found (that had was pictured with the automatic gearbox lever in the car). This means they must have been sold here ??? Possibly on special order ??

you'd be suprised... I was keeping up well with 205 GTi's at the last drive day I organised even if I was loosing traction on the cheap tyres on my car. Through corners my car is more then quick enough, and as you would know there are plenty of twisties up around the sunshine coast hinterland

The owner of this car rang my dad last night... It turns out he is a mate of a mate, and he knew that i had a 405mi.

Anyway, it is not an auto, and it is apparently a really good car. Everyone is telling him to ask more, but he needs it gone as he has a new car.

If anyone is interested, $4500 seems like an absolute bargain.

$4500 or $6500? Is it a 94 model? It has s1 wheel's not the s2 style ones. It's a good looking car, hope Alan doesn't, get to it before I have the chance to look at it .

If Alan looks at any more cars before he reduces the number he already has, he's been promised the job as lead metzo soprano in the Vienna Boys Choir
