Default Peugeot 505 Auto Gearbox Capacity

Anyone here know the transmission fluid capacity of a ZF 4HP22 auto gearbox in a series II 505? Or have the Haynes manual handy? Thanks.

From haynes #762 (505) Page 7 General Dimensions,Weights and Capacities

Auto transmission drain and refill 4 HP22 2.6 litres or 4.6 pints

and for information the 3 HP 22 1.6 litres or 2.8 pints

Cheers the Haynes 762 extra team.

it should say in your handbook but it will be around the 6L mark from dead empty

if you are changing the oil then you are only going to get around 1.5L out of it anyway

the only way to change the oil completely is to disconnect the cooling lines and stick the output one into an empty drum and the supply line into the new oil and start the car up and let it pump through untill you get new oil coming out the output side

beware though as this will take around 20L to do it thoroughly

the other way is to pull the box out of the car

Thanks for the info guys. I dropped the pan and changed the filter and so far it seems to be running quite well. I didn't realise that there was so much oil locked up in the torque converter. Looks like I'll need to pay to have it flushed professionally some time.
