    Icon14 Bright Idea??

    Hi All,
just had a good idea and want to know what everyone reckons.
We all find things on Ebay, the Papers, this Forum Etc Etc, that need to be looked at before buying -Cars , Parts, One of them Russian Brides you see advertised. Etc Etc.
With our current member list you can search for a town or city on it's own- nothing else- and it returns a list of all members in say Sydley or Malbon ,some members have their suburb included.
This is where my bright idea comes in,what if there is something of interest in Fitzroy or Geelong , wouldn't it be handy to see if any "Fellow Froggers" live in these areas, then send them a PM or Email to see if they would mind having a Captain Cook, instead of in my case jumping on Boeing to the other end of the country for nothing . Another example is like 504 504 504 is doing at the moment (see his post "One more road Trip"). If you were stuck in Yass (or some other bitterly cold joint) armed only with your Lap Top, you might be able to find one of us who actually has never had the sense to leave and they may be able to refer you to a local mechanic or wrecker etc.

I know this is the new age of all this Privacy [email protected]#$$, but hey all I am saying is that if we all update our Profiles where it say's LOCATION - would it hurt to to put "Hawthorn Melbourne" or whatever your suburb or town is.
If you happen to get a PM. then it is up to YOU if YOU wish to reply- privacy maintained!!!
Possibly one of the administrators of this site will read my post, see what I am getting at and reformat this idea that could be a handy tool for all here.

So if no great objections Udate Your Location!

Any Feedback?? Bright Idea or what.?

I think it's a good idea. However, some will have a problem with privacy as you say. Might possibly put people at risk of car theft if you advertise what suburb your car is parked in at night. I guess it'd be something a thief could use to narrow down a search for a specific car. Not saying there are car thieves around here but anyone can look at this forum.

i think its a good idea - even if it was expanded to something like the municipality you live in (say Maroondah for example) or even sometthing like Northern Melb...

    Thanks CAM 740 & kermit,
a positive response and the idea of putting "Northern Suburbs & Inner city" is the go , see a few great minds are better than one.

Now we might get things rolling, should have thought of this first as now no-one has to worry about their privacy etc or their wheels getting "Nicked".

So now all you other Frogs what is the problem, you may be able to help one of us out one day & the favour will be returned.

Remember " An unlit fire never cooked a Goanna"- think about it???
be interesting now(thanks to CAM 740 & kermit ) to see if we get a lot more response.
Thanks guy's this is what clubs & organizations are all about

I've had my suburb on my profile since I joined up! I agree that it's a great idea and don't think that car theft would be too much of a problem if a member was displaying their suburb.
Not unless you had a very desirable car and lived in a very, very small town in which it was easy to track down where the car was situated....
