    Default S16 thermo fans

I did a search and found this thread ---> summer and 306s
which mentions the fans themsleves can come off the spindle and free wheel.

My fans seem wobbly and when they first come on make a horrible dry bearing screetching/ wirring type noise.

Id been told that the fans were sealed units and not serviceable (and that new ones were $600 each!!!!) If it's that the fans have come off the spindles is it possible to reatach them?? are they bolted, glued????

Assuming that the fans aren't fixable, does anyone know of aftermarket or another manufactures fans that will fit an S16? I know that Peugeot sport has some slimline ones (so you can fit an oil cooler) and they were cheaper (I think) than $600 each but I'd like something easy to obtain if I'm going to change them.

any help appreciated, I'm not sure they will last another summer

    Default fans

fan blades are held onto spindle by a screw in the end of the motor shaft
this should be tight but is not pleasant to do so. You have to remove grille at least for access
fans my wobble as they could have distorted with heat, noise could come from perimeter contact.

replacement fan motors available from EAI Box Hill Melb.
if you find a cheaper source let us all know please.
    good luck

Thanks Alpine, I still haven't put my lion back in the grill (it was glued in must have been broken on a previous removal) so taking it out isn't too big a hassle, I think I'll check it out

The noise sounds like metal on metal with no lubricant I don't think it is the fans hitting on the cowling, but it could be the spindle spinning inside the fan itself

I'll certainly let people know if I find a cheaper source
