    Default The highest milage 306

Whats the highest milage 306 ( Esp the GTI 6 model ) and what engine probs have you encountered?
My 97 GTI 6 has done 117,000 and had an faulty engine sensor replaced.
Am aiming for 300,000 before I mothball her!

My old N5 would probably be over the 190k mark now (It was 186 a few months back). At just over the 180 mark the cam belt snapped, so has now got a rebuild & is running better than ever.

A colleague bought one cheaply at about 290,000 a year or two ago for $1800. Auto transmission was dead, it transpired and I suspect a few other things have "needed attention".

hi, im new around here. I love the site, lots of helpfull hints! I have an s16 with 355k on the clock. I knew the origional owner and so far engine wise the only problems have been the cam seals (done twice), ignition coils and belts. Both of us have been very good with servicing the car so i think that helps a lot

    hey,
thats a fair effort dano, we have a 00' 206 gti that is up to 309k i think. still going strong, but i think the accelerator cable is stretching because when new the car only revved out to 98km/h in second, now it easily hits 102km/h anyways have fun with the car.

i bought the car for a very reasonable price with the intentions of doing it up over a long period of time. Those k's are mostly long distance up and down the east coast and the engine hasnt shown any signs of giving up yet (i hope) no knocking and it doesnt loose oil. So far ive had a lot of work done to everything except the engine, so i hope that keeps on going for a little while.

This wouldnt happen to be scotts old car. If it is, this car has bee driven properly all the life i knew it and when i went for a ride in it, it was the fastest s16 ive been in. Very well looked after always serviced and kept in great kick.

the gearing of the car shouldnt change over time. if a car redlines at a certain point when its new it should stay there because you cant wear in a redline as such. maybe in my youthfulness i have confused myself yet again
