    Default Brakes question.. Help

Hi all, been a while since I visited this forum so I hope you have all been keeping well.

I'm a bit puzzled, I've rang my local pug dealer to get some details for the front front brake shoes I need for my 306 td. He told me I have no ABS which is ok I understand that, but he then told me I have vented discs. I've had a look at my front disc from outside the wheel and it appears a solid disc and I thought by vented it would have holes or something drilled in, I've included a pic so you see what I mean. Any advice or knowledge would be much appreciated, and please forgive me my ignorance.

i had the same observation/thoughts with mine. However the difference i have seen is that between both sides of the rotor there is a honey comb structure and not just a solid chunk of metal

Your rotors are by all means vented (if you notice the edges of the rotor, there is a gap between the two sides, that gap is what 'ventillates' the disc.

A solid rotor is one block having one edge.

That should be brake pads for the front. The shoes are for a drum (at the back).

    Good grief.

Next thing you know they will do away with thermocycle cooling and introduce pneumatic tyres.

They'll never get rid of crank handles though.

You need to take the wheel off and look at the edge of the disc.

By the way, the edge holes go right through the disc and vent on the inside of the disc near the centre (you can't see this without taking them off).
