    Icon7 Limited Slip Diffs

Is there any way to tell the difference between a factory LSD and the standard non slippery diffs by external appearances on a 505GTi? I know you can jack it up and spin the wheels etc. but I want to know if there are any external differences.

    Cheers,

    Matt.

    Yes.
The numbers on the diff housing plate will give you a code for the ratio and type.
Unfortuneatly I do not have that codeing to hand, (it might be in the owners hand book).

If the diff is a bit old and tired, the slippery part may not be working to its best, so a jack up and spin may give a wrong result.

Ok, here's my only claim to fame , I posted the diff code pages on this thread...
    505/504 diff interchangeability

Even the factory LSD (admittedly tightened up - I don't think it was LSD-ing when I took it apart) makes a nice difference in wet weather take off on slippery corners with the PRV...
