    Default 205 GTI Warning light.

My son recently took my 205 GTI while we do some work on his other car and he rang to say a warning light came on that looked like a coolant light. The guages were OK so he kept going and everything was fine. It went out for the same reason as it came on - no reason at all.

It's a series one GTI and it is down the centre warning light section between the speedo and the tacho below the battery warning and above a high/low beam light indicator. He emailed a photo of it with the ignition on so it was lit up.

It looks like a radiator cap with a couple of squigely horizontal lines under it to look like water I guess. I thought it might be the coolant headertank light saying the level was low but he said he checked that and it was OK.

    Any comment would be appreciated.

It is the coolent level light. It comes on well before the reservoir is empty so just top it up. -Will

That is a possibility - he's been trying to get his hands on it for some time and he had a ball during the 2.5 hour trip home.
