    Default 205GTI Rear reflective panel

Does anyone know the cost of a second hand or new 205GTI rear reflective panel?
Providing you can find one of course.

My 205 GTi was rear-ended a few weeks ago and naturally, the rear reflective panel was smashed. When I get the car back from repairs, I'll make a note to ask how much the panel costs, and where did they get it from...

    ..assuming they can get one

    hi,

extremely rare - as most of us know. if youre lucky enough to find one at the wreckers (i dboubt it), theyll sell it to you and the rear hatch (they wont seperate) from upwards of $600... and purchase yourself a tatts ticket.

best bet is to purchase one overseas via ebay or o.s. peugeot specialist.

you may also want to shoot steve (stonefree) a PM, as he is offering his fiance's rear end! .

on a side note, it reads "PEUGEOT 205" as opposed to "PEUGEOT 205 GTI". its in good nick.

we all know what assume stands for so i wont reiterate but the chances are they wont find one so id get on the blower and keep check on it.
you could get them to get one of those metal panels from the uk if you cant get a reflective one.different look but stll looks good.-BAZZ

    Default 205GTI Rear reflective panel

Thanks Guys, but I'm still not sure what I should pay for one.
If I find one, I don't want to let it go, but I don't want to pay WAY too much for it. What's do people think is WAY too much??
Should there be any difference in price between the GTI model and the one that simply says Peugeot 205?

    Cheers.

I'd say you'd probably pay at least $150-200 for a good one as they are nearly impossible to get. Keep your eye on ebay, they do pop up. There was one for sale in NZ recently but postage was over $100!

Don't bother trying to get one posted from the uk as people aren't usually happy to ship them.

I should think about fitting mine soon...

Try Pugwreck out in Bayswater, they're usually pretty helpful with obscure things like that.

I believe the 205 GTI Classic had a Dark Grey panel (or was it a totally revised boot on that model, can't quite recall!!!) on the back instead of the reflective panel that made the rear end of the car look much nicer, well IMHO anyway.

Maybe you could look at that option too?

with much respect bob, firstly, pig's arse youll find one in oz (they rarley come up), and secondly, at between $150-$200?! itd be great if it were reality, as i'd stock pile!

its always great to find a bargain, but the reality is, peeps are asking from about 400 moolas and upwards for a good one - and wreckers wont seperate them from hatchbacks, nowadays - if you can find one that is.

if i were in the market for a rear reflector, i wouldnt expect much change from 500 bucks.

the great thing about ebay is prices will vay depending on whos after what, at a particular time.

    good luck.

p.s. ruckus, you got yours for a steal, in bendigo, didnt you?!

nah, it was a colour coded flat panel, that looks great. its a cheaper option and looks great. kynan's got it on his white 205mi.

    Default 205GTI Rear reflective panel

Thanks everyone. I think I've found one but aren't quite sure.
    If not, I'm up for anywhere between $ 300.00 and $ 500.00.
Fantastic!! Oh well, they do make the rear of the car!!

As expected, Graham Cuthbert's can't find one. They got Regan to have a look in France but to no avail.

I'll get the '87 grey grille fitted for now, and try my luck on Ebay in the future I suppose

Yeah Reggie I got the one from ebay a couple of weeks ago. Note that I did say 'at least $150-200' and I had to because that's what I got mine for (therefore it is possible, all mention of bacon aside ). The one in NZ would cost almost $200 for someone once it's posted so that might be an option. If people are paying $300-500 maybe I should weld the thing to the back

We had ours stolen and made do with a GTI-less reflector panel for quite some time.

I don't know why no one has snapped it up either, link here Relocation Cleanout Pug-a-Lug you could inform the insurance company or smash repairer that you have located one and organise for them to pay for it, I think it should be possible

Picked up the car from Graeme Cuthbert's this morning. Rear-end looks brand new!

Thanks to Lion Auto for getting in touch with me and shipping over the reflective panel

Has anyone got an old one lying around? I don't care about how many cracks it has, or whether or not it is in one piece as it would be being painted. (the whole 80's red plastic thing doesn't do it for me)

I ask because i've heard that painting them is the easiest and best fitting way to get a flush tailgate.

hi al, you wont get a flush tailgate with a painted rear red reflector.

lucerin (20FIVE) has removed his rear grey graited panel, and it certainly doesnt look out of place. behind is colour coded, anyhow - as you prolly already know. also, a few years back saw a white s2 with a grey grated panel, painted white, then the badges re-applied over the top. looked fugn nuts.

This one had the reflector painted over - doesn't look bad...

I am reluctant to just remove the black panel and have it all smoothed by a panel beater cos i'm not sure if i will like it. (it's off atm and there seems to be a lot of white...) If i was to use a reflector it could be undone if it looks crap.

ahhh... thats what you meant. yeah that looks good. thought it would protrude more, actually.

ky's 205mi16s got that aftermarket flat panel, that seems more flush than the read reflector.
