Car magazine, Oct edition. I'm fairly sure this used to by evo but changed it's name. Anyway lots of good articles on Pugs - 306 Rallye, 206 GTi, 307, 206 HDI. Well worth the $10.

Mick, as far as I know Car magazine and Evo are not related and Evo is still available. BTW there is another magazine also called Car and hails from South Africa. A good read but hard to find and obviously deals almost completely with the local S.A. scene.
What did you think of the Car editorial team attempts to design a 3PV as they term it?
Cheers, Pete

English CAR magazine and Evo are unrelated magazines independent of each other, although Evo does seem to have pinched some of CAR's contributors like Russell Bulgin. CAR did take over, or incorporate as they put it, Performance Car magazine about 12-18 months ago though.

Haven't bought Evo, but from newsagent browsing, Evo has also stolen some of their design ideas. Not surprising when CAR has just won some big magazine design award against all those classy Euro mags on lifestyle and fashion.

Evo is edited by Ian Fraser, ex-owner and editor of CAR, so it isn't surprising if he took away some of his influences. The pics are not as stylish as CAR, but as a read it is on par!

Aha ! He's an Aussie, too, isn't he ? Or am I confusing him with Gavin Green who was the editor in those days?

As to whether or not Ian Fraser is Australian, I can't say for sure, but he was at the forefront of the journos in the field in the early sixties in Australia, and was responsible for the adventurous and informative weekly motor sporting mag that came out in 1965.
I think he was with Wheels those days, but went to England soon afterwards...
Gavin, of course, is Evan Green's son.
Ian Fraser was the editor of Wheels in the mid 60's. He left to go to the UK and purchased CAR magazine after running a pub (I'm too lazy to stretch over and find the details in the CAR 25th anniversary issue). He sold the magazine in the late 70's (early 80's?) to a large publishing house to pursue other interests then on picking up an Evo magazine I saw he was the editor. Lots of the good AUS writers seem to have contributed to CAR at some stage, like Steve Cropley who went on to be editor of CAR then its rival Autocar later on.

Now I recall... AutoNews was the weekly motor sporting mag he had early in 1965...
