Hi All,
Does the 405mi16 radiator fit into a standard 405?
If yes, How will it affect the electronics and fan?

any help appreciated.

plus, my mi16 has what looks very much like a non standard radiator, given that it is enormous and shiny and cools the engine down to 10 degrees below "optimum" temperature
why do you ask?

From GSF online shop in the UK:
T17356 RADIATOR 405 1.6/1.9 PE>92 TWIN FAN;Mi16;1.9D >92
T17358 RADIATOR 405 Mi16 WITH CAT;1.8TD >5/91
Shown as two different part numbers/two different prices.
There's every chance it will be different and just as likely it won't fit based on that.
I know with the air conditioner, the condensor for the 8 valve is totally different to the 16 on a BX Citroen so as these are based on the same basic car, I'd imagine something similar with the 405 and Mi16.
With the BX condensor, it fits on the inside of the top cross member on an 8 valve and on the outside on the 16 hence it is smaller in surface area but compensates in thickness.

If it ain't broke, use a 12" shifter.....that usually does the trick!!
Thanks for the info Alan! You've been a great help, again!![]()
Seems like the mi16 1.9L built before the catalytic converters share the same dimensions as the petrol 1.9L built up to 1992 but not after that (based on Alan S post above).
I've been offered a few mi6 radiators for my 405 but the owners were not too sure if it fits the 405. Still can't locate a 405 radiator though. :-( From what I can tell with some googling - the core of the 405mi6 is wider than the ordinary petrol 405.
Still there wasn't a definite answer - "ie. <b>mi16 radiator boes not fit</b>" so that's why I posted the question here in case someone has tried and could tell me what their experiences has been.

Could I suggest you ask the question here as these guys all seem to own a few cars each so chances are they can tell you straiht up.

They fit, I put one into a normal 405 on Saturday. I'm not sure about whether they are totally compatible in terms of cooling capacity but doubt there is much in it. The standard MI core is thinner.
Cheers

I am unsure of series 2 cars.
I have already offered you my spare, not three hours after you posted your request. If you get back to me in time, I can deliver it to your door on friday.

Is your car an automatic. replaced mine in the mi16 with a valeo, core width of 44mm. have since found out that this type is for an auto with air. car runs between 70 and 80 deg and cools down quickly once moving. then again the 406 has the 22mm core which runs at 80 deg and takes a little longer to cool once moving. i beleive they are interchangable on the series 1 at least. when i was trying to locate one second hand i came across a few 22mm cores but no 44mm types.Originally Posted by Demannu

Thanks all. Much appreciated, for all the info. I finally found a 405 standard radiator. :-)
